He was the founder of the Hong Kong hanrong book company from 1916 to 2007. He made outstanding contributions to promoting cross-strait cultural exchanges and promoting Chinese culture and art, and was conferred honorary doctor by Peking University.
In order to commemorate Dr. Shijingyi and carry forward his legacy, Mr. Shi hanji, the eldest son, and zhu kundi founded "Dr. Shijingyi cup -- a Chinese painting and calligraphy competition".
The first competition was successfully held in 2010, the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong hanrong book company.
In order to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Dr. Shi jingyi, the second "Dr. Shi jingyi cup -- Chinese painting and calligraphy competition" was launched again in 2015, and was listed as "the key national cultural exchange project for Hong Kong and Macao in 2015" by the ministry of culture.
The second contest continued to receive strong support from art lovers at home and abroad. The participants crossed ethnic boundaries, spanning four continents including Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States, and gained about 6,500 pieces of submitted works.
The winning entries have been exhibited in Beijing, Hong Kong, macau, foshan and Taiwan and published in album form.
In order to let more art lovers share the achievements of this competition, and thoroughly implement the spirit of a series of important speeches of general secretary xi jinping on cultural construction, as well as the opening of the 19th CPC national congress, this "calligraphy fine art exhibition" specially selected 80 works of calligraphy from 170 winning works in the painting and calligraphy competition.
The 170 winning works will be sent to the "Dr. Shi jingyi museum" to fulfill Dr. Shi's wish to make the museum an important base for the promotion of calligraphy art.
It is hoped that the audience, while appreciating these calligraphy works of different regions and styles, will experience the glory of Chinese quintessence, the inheritance of culture, Dr. Shi jingyi's lifelong promotion of cross-strait cultural exchanges and the promotion of Chinese culture and art.
